| About Brighton Marine Surveys Brighton Marine Surveys was established by Aidan Tuckett who trained as a boatbuilder in the 70s and then worked in the boatbuilding & inshore fishing industries before gaining a marine sciences degree and working as a fisheries advisor in the South Pacific. He established a workshop on the Thames, building day boats (including a 20' gaff rigged cruising yacht, the Sandpiper design by Laurent Giles Ltd) and repairing a wide range of river and sea going craft . He subsequently worked on a range of overseas development programmes, qualifying as a member of the Association of Project Managers in 2000. He studied marine surveying at the International Boatbuilding Training College in Lowestoft, gaining a Diploma with distinction. He is an Accredited Member of the Yacht Designers and Surveyors Association which is the UK's main professional standards organisation for yacht and boat surveyors. As well as surveying, he builds and restores traditional boats, works a beach fishing boat and writes for Classic Boat magazine. He is currently running their 2009-10 competition to design an eco fishing boat. | |
