About Brighton Marine Surveys
Brighton Marine Surveys was established by Aidan Tuckett who trained as a boatbuilder in the 70's and then worked in the boatbuilding & inshore fishing industries before gaining a marine sciences degree and working as a fisheries advisor in the South Pacific. He subsequently established a workshop on the Thames, designing and building traditional boats and repairing a wide range of river and sea going craft.
He studied marine surveying at the International Boatbuilding Training College in Lowestoft, gaining a Diploma with distinction. He is an Accredited Member of the Yacht Designers and Surveyors Association (YDSA), which is the UK's professional standards organisation for yacht and boat surveyors, and is a member of the YDSA's managing committee. He is also an associate lecturer on Solent University's Yacht Production and Surveying degree course.
As well as surveying, he restores traditional yachts and writes for Classic Boat magazine, producing their design competition for the last three years.
